Mr. Areman is a partner at the firm of Markowitz and Richman.  His practice focuses on the representation of public and private sector labor unions, benefit funds and individual employees.  Mr. Areman specializes in grievance arbitration, interest arbitration, unfair labor practices, disciplinary matters, civil rights litigation, pension disputes, ERISA matters and workers’ compensation. 

Mr. Areman serves as Labor Counsel to the New Jersey State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Fraternal Order of Police, New Jersey Labor Council.  He also represents employees and their unions in the public safety, healthcare, construction, trucking and service industries.  He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey; the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey; and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. 

Prior to joining Markowitz and Richman, Mr. Areman served as National Negotiator for the National Treasury Employees Union in Washington, DC.  Mr. Areman also previously worked in the legal departments of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the American Federation of Teachers, both in Washington, DC.  Mr. Areman received his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College in 1996 and his law degree from the George Washington University National Law Center in 2003.

Mr. Areman is active as a volunteer in his neighborhood and with local youth sports. In November 2019, Mr. Areman was elected to serve his community as Cheltenham Township Commissioner.
